There were lots of local angles to the three Emmys won by “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” the limited series based on the book “Vulgar Favors.” An outstanding actor Emmy was won by San Francisco-born Darren Criss; journalist Maureen Orth, author of the book, was born in Berkeley and is a graduate of UC Berkeley. On Monday night, her 32-year-old son, Luke Russert, tweeted about the best limited series Emmy, and said, “Mom is a world champion!” Recognition from one’s peers: gratifying. Praise from one’s kids: priceless.
